rally uk, motorsport news, results, features, teams, drivers, updates: “Rally girls join forces for deafness charity.

Rally drivers Jayne Auden and Amanda Cornforth will team-up together for a one-off outing to promote deaf awareness and raise money for the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People charity when they contest the Jim Clark National Rally on May 25-26.

Auden, who is hard of hearing, will drive her David Auden and Associates Insurance Brokers and 6th Gear PR-backed 1400cc MG ZR while Cornforth, will swap her usual Ford Ka driver’s seat to co-drive as the all-female team take on the Scottish Borders-based tarmac event with the aim of raising funds for the Hearing Dogs charity under the campaign name ‘Hear and Now’ and promote awareness of the condition which affects around nine million people in Britain.

As Auden proves, being hearing impaired does not restrict you from doing anything. The 25 year-old insurance clerk was born hard of hearing but hears through the use of digital hearing aids and it has not prevented her taking up a sport that she had longed to do since childhood.”
