ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Girls with hearing loss who are entering eighth grade in September, and who are interested in science, technology, engineering and math can attend TechGirlz, a career exploration camp from July 29 to Aug. 4 at Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf.

TechGirlz is designed to help girls learn and think about jobs and careers in science and technology by building their own computer to take home, discovering the secrets of roller coaster design, investigating a crime scene, and becoming a commander on a simulated mission to Mars. They also will meet other girls with similar interests, make new friends and get their own lab coats.

Camp classes are taught in English and in sign language, are certified by the New York State Department of Health, and incorporate National Science Education standards. Continue
