GARDEN GROVE – Police are searching for a 73-year-old deaf man with Alzheimer’s disease who walked away from his Partridge Street apartment Monday night without any of his medications.

Reginaldo Vega Orante, who can only communicate through sign language, has been acting irrationally and has been depressed lately, his family told police. Orante has a pacemaker and needs several medications every day, Garden Grove police Lt. Dennis Ellsworth said.

Orante was last seen about 6:45 p.m. Monday near his home at 13102 Partridge St., No. 53.

Orante is described as a Hispanic man with brown eyes, grey and brown balding hair. He is 5-foot-7 and weighs 150 pounds. He has a scar on the left side of his chest, and his top teeth are dentures.

He was wearing a white buttoned shirt with light blue and brown striped pants, and carrying a black leather handbag.

Orante disappeared in November 2006 but returned, telling his family he went to Long Beach, Ellsworth said.

Anyone with information about Orante should immediately contact the Garden Grove Police Department at 714-741-5704, police investigator Elaine Jordan at 714-741-5815 or the nearest local law enforcement agency.
